Non-discrimination
Advancing the rights of marginalised groups
Addressing organisational 'deep culture'. IHRB focuses its work on non-discrimination in two specific areas:
- Gender: IHRB consults extensively with businesses, civil society, government, and academic institutions on a range of gender-related issues, publishes regularly, and runs courses. IHRB works toward the development of norms, standards, and best practice that help companies address continuing discrimination against women. In particular, IHRB explores how companies can embed good practices to influence the ‘deep culture’ in organisations, by focusing on: i) practices at work ii) practices outside the workplace affecting workers iii) practices outside the workplace affecting consumers and users.
- The rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people: IHRB co-wrote the Standards of Conduct for Business with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which have since been launched and adopted by more than 200 companies around the world. IHRB continues to widely disseminate the LGBTI Standards of Conduct for Business globally.
