Consumer Goods Forum Makes Responsible Recruitment a Key Priority
15 December 2016
Industry trade association the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), which includes several members of the Leadership Group, has included responsible recruitment as one of three new commitments by its members to tackle forced labour and trafficking.
The three Priority Industry Principles highlight the 3 key areas of concern reported by CGF members and other stakeholders:
- Every worker should have freedom of movement. The ability of workers to move freely should not be inhibited by their employer.
- No worker should pay for a job. Fees and costs associated with recruitment and employment should be paid by the employer.
- No worker should be indebted or coerced to work. Workers should work freely, aware of the terms and conditions of their work and paid regularly as agreed.
CGF members will take acton individually and collectively to align their business practices with these principles. The Leadership Group will work closely with the CGF and share tools and guidance around reponsible recruitment practices.
