IHRB Keynote at World Green Building Council Launch of Health Framework
Through the Better Places for People project, the World Green Building Council (GBC) network has led a multi-year global consultation to redefine the scope of health and wellbeing in the built environment. This has culminated in the creation of WorldGBC’s Health and Wellbeing Framework; a high-level guidance tool for the real estate, building and construction sector that will be launched on November 4th 2020.
IHRB provided input during the development of the Framework, seeking to ensure alignment with the human rights principles of participation, non-discrimination, transparency, and accountability, as well as IHRB's Framework for Dignity in the Built Environment.
The Keynote session of the Health and Wellbeing Framework launch summit will discuss the built environment industry’s transition to a holistic approach to sustainability, key socio-economic and environmental determinants of health, and the industry evolving to a whole lifecycle approach to health and wellbeing. IHRB CEO John Morrison's keynote address will focus on social value, equity, and health as a human right in the built environment sector; key risks to health across the built environment lifecycle, such as within land acquisition, construction, and supply chains; and make a clear call for the private sector to lead the way in taking responsibility for improving human health and quality of life at all stages of the value chain, and for all people they can impact.
