Academy

The Institute for Human Rights and Business offers a range of training on issues across the business and human rights agenda. Drawing on its roster of international experts, IHRB Academy provides standard, advanced, or bespoke training to meet the needs of any organisation interested in:

  • increasing understanding of business and human rights issues;
  • refining skills to implement human rights due diligence;
  • developing internal competencies on specific topics;
  • addressing real world human rights dilemmas.

The IHRB Academy Faculty includes members of IHRB staff, Research Fellows and Advisory Council, as well as other global experts from the worlds of business, academia and civil society.  

We provide business and human rights training for students, corporates and NGOs as outlined below. 

Academic

IHRB, along with Rafto Foundation and the University of Bergen, puts on an annual business and human rights masters course in Bergen, Norway. Held across three weekends in September-November 2019, applicants are welcome from business and academia.

IHRB has also teamed up with CEMS to provide business and human rights skills seminars for its Masters in International Management (MIM). CEMS is a global alliance of leading business schools, multinational companies and NGOs that together offer the CEMS MIM to future leaders.

Corporate

IHRB provides bespoke training for teams that regularly address human rights-related issues. Training covers industry-sector, country-specific, or thematic human rights dilemmas and challenges tailored to support a range of functions - legal and compliance, supply chains and procurement, corporate communications, human resources, corporate responsibility, sustainability.

NGOs

IHRB has designed training specifically for non-governmental and civil society organisations to help them navigate the complicated process of engaging with the myriad different complex layers of multinational corporate entities.
