Carmen Pedraza has experience in policy advising, communications, project management, and migration issues. Throughout her career, Carmen has demonstrated a commitment to social impact and human rights, with a particular focus on stakeholder engagement. She is interested in the impact of businesses shaping new economies to reduce social inequality and boost social cohesion. Carmen began working with migrant communities in the North American region in 2016.
Current Work
As the North America Regional Coordinator for the Migrant Workers Programme at IHRB, Carmen serves as the primary point of contact for the program in the region. She is responsible for liaising with key stakeholders, building relationships, and providing regional input into program planning and content delivery. Additionally, Carmen leads the communications production of the Migrant Workers Programme's flagship event, the Global Forum for Responsible Recruitment (GFRR). She is also instrumental in creating and implementing communication campaigns, such as rebranding and updating IHRB's Dhaka Principles for Migration with Dignity and promoting the Responsible Recruitment Register.
Before IHRB
Carmen's professional experience includes roles in the public and non-profit sectors. Before joining IHRB, she served as a Junior Policy Advisor at the Mexican Delegation to UNESCO in Paris, France, and held consulting roles with organizations such as UNODC and the Senate in Mexico, where she worked on projects focused on peacebuilding and the prevention of human trafficking. Prior to her consulting roles, she worked as a researcher, focusing on portraying stories from the DREAMER community in the U.S. and Mexico.
Carmen holds a Master's Degree in Sustainability and Social Innovation from HEC Paris Business School and a B.A. in Communications from Universidad Iberoamericana. Additionally, she holds certifications in Migration and Governance from the CIDE Centre for Research in Mexico and in Business and Human Rights from Bergen University (Norway).
