Frances House

Senior Advisor, Special Programmes, IHRB

Expertise

Frances has over twenty-five years’ experience in the field of business and human rights and brings an important blend of strategic planning and practical programme delivery on the ground in a number of regions.

Current Work

Frances was involved in the establishment of IHRB in 2009, and worked until 2022 as Deputy Chief Executive, overseeing organisational strategy, operations and programme development, including IHRB's Migrant Worker and Built Environment programmes.  In her current role, Frances oversees IHRB's work on Oceans and Human Rights and Just Transition focus on renewable energy and impact on communities.  She leads IHRB’s teaching of Masters’ students through the global CEMS Business School Network. She has also been a founding Director of the Centre for Sport and Human Rights and long-standing Trustee of IHRB's sister organisation in Colombia, Centro Regional de Empresas y Emprendimientos Responsables.

Before IHRB

Frances was Policy Director at the International Business Leaders Forum, Vietnam Researcher with Human Rights Watch, and worked with the European Commission in Brussels and Vietnam on humanitarian programmes with asylum-seekers. A former trustee of Amnesty International UK, Care International UK and Streetkids International UK, she also sits on IKEA’s Stakeholder Advisory Board.

I’m keen to explore how business and human rights can grow from pockets of good corporate practice to serious scale across whole industries.
