Froydis Cameron-Johansson
Global Head of Health Safety Environment and Security, Rio Tinto
Froydis started her career in government at the European Commission working on Climate Change and subsequently at the US Senate. Froydis joined Shell and gained over a decade of experience across the oil and gas business, holding a number of project and corporate positions around the world. She was part of the very first sustainability team for Shell, reframing their approach to society.
She joined Anglo American to lead integrated sustainability planning for ‘mega projects’ in Alaska, Brazil and Peru. After that she became Head of Safety, Sustainability, Corporate Affairs and Compliance for the global Exploration team operating in over 20 countries. She then took up the role of Group Head of Sustainability, International Government Relations responsible for sustainability, country risk, stakeholder engagement and public policy areas such as climate change, human rights as well as ensuring integrated government relations planning, geopolitical risk and scenario analysis across all levels of the organisation.
Froydis joined Rio Tinto in late 2023 to head up the group’s Health, Safety, Environment and Security function, responsible for the group’s integrated approach to sustainability and ESG.
Froydis is on the Board of NES Fircroft, appointed in November 2023 and an advisory panel member of the Vinnova, the Swedish Governments mining innovation fund.
