Giulio Ferrini
Head of Built Environment, IHRB
Expertise
Giulio has over ten years of experience in leading initiatives to tackle social and environmental injustice in the built environment. He has a deep understanding of sustainable development, environmental policy and human rights frameworks, which he leverages to develop multi-lateral solutions to address critical issues such as housing affordability, public health and worker rights in the construction sector.
Current work
Giulio leads IHRB’s Built Environment Programme, which works with businesses, civil society organisations and policymakers in the built environment sector to advance business practice, shape policy and strengthen accountability. Giulio sets out the programme strategy and supports colleagues in delivery. He develops and maintains key strategic relationships, as well as developing ideas for new initiatives and turning them into reality through effective partnerships.
Before IHRB
Giulio worked for planning consultancies, local government, national government and NGOs in the built environment sector. A chartered engineer, he shaped policy documents, planned urban extensions and transformed local streets and public spaces. He is particularly passionate about ensuring marginalised communities are prioritised in the fight against the climate emergency. He loves bikes and (field) hockey.
