Expertise
Julia is a human rights expert with over 15 years’ experience in policy research and advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and project and team management in the areas of international labour standards and labour migration. Julia established IHRB’s presence in Southeast Asia and has managed IHRB’s work on labour rights, including its outreach in the Gulf region, since 2019.
Current Work
In her current role, Julia manages IHRB’s strategic planning and implementation, and has oversight of the monitoring and evaluation of programmes. Julia collaborates closely with the CEO and COO in the day-to-day management of the organisation and in the strategic development of its subsidiaries and associated entities. She also supports the work of the Migrant Workers’ Programme and oversees IHRB’s emerging work in the Gulf region.
Before IHRB
Prior to joining IHRB, Julia worked with the International Labour Organization in Southeast Asia and Geneva on forced labour and labour migration programmes. Originally from Brazil, Julia is a qualified lawyer, and holds a Masters’ Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the Global Campus on Human Rights, Venice, and a post-graduate diploma in international law from the University of Florence.
