Margot Wallström

From 2014-2019, Margot Wallström was Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Löfven Government, spearheading the country’s feminist foreign policy. She was also Sweden’s Minister for Nordic Cooperation since May 2016. She has been Special Representative to the UN Secretary General on Sexual Violence in Conflict. She is a former Vice President of the European Commission and Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders' Ministerial Initiative.

Ms. Wallström’s distinctions include being voted “Commissioner of the Year” by the European Voice newspaper in 2002. She has received numerous awards on rights, as well as environmental and European issues, including the Monismanien Award for Freedom of Speech (2009) and the Göteborg Award on Sustainable Development.
