Thi Thi Thein

Independent Consultant; Research Fellow, IHRB


Thi Thi is an independent consultant with over 25 years of experience in both the profit and non-profit sectors in Myanmar, including 11 years in business and human rights research and training, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and project and team management.

Her recent and ongoing work focuses on advocating for labour rights in the Myanmar garment sector, promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and collaborating with local and international partners to promote safe migration and the rights of Myanmar migrant workers.

Thi Thi served as the Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business's (MCRB) Deputy Director and then Senior Consultant from 2020–2024 and supported the Centre’s work on providing a trusted, impartial forum for dialogue, seminars, and briefings to relevant parties as well as access to international expertise and tools. Between 2013 and 2015, as MCRB’s Manager (Sector-Wide Impact Assessment), she led the Myanmar team on the Center’s Sector-Wide Impact Assessments in the Oil & Gas, Tourism, and ICT sectors.

From 2023-2024, as the Senior Consultant (Myanmar) for UNDP’s B+HR Asia Program, she designed and delivered the Heightened Human Rights Due Diligence (HHRDD) training for multinational and Myanmar companies, CSO representatives, trade unions, and labour rights organizations in Myanmar and helped in editing the translation of UNDP’s Heightened Human Rights Due Diligence for Business in Conflict-Affected Contexts: A Guide (Myanmar version).

Thi Thi holds a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University and a Master of Public Administration from the Yangon Institute of Economics. She is a Fulbright Alumna.
