Wambui Kimathi

Wambui is currently a Senior Advisor to Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation in the Government of Kenya.

Prior to this, Wambui was the County Secretary/Head of County Public Service in one of the devolved units of the Government of Kenya, the County Government of Nyeri.  This was preceded by eight years as a Commissioner at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR). During her time at the Commission, she led the Business and Human Rights Initiative at the KNCHR through which she engaged with executives from a variety of fields to develop greater understanding of the human rights responsibilities by business, state and non-state actors.

She has previously worked as Deputy Executive Director/Programs Coordinator at the Kenya Human Rights Commission, (KHRC) a leading NGO, and as a Senior Program Officer at the Institute for Education in Democracy (IED).
