Does Mohandas Gandhi Matter in a Modernising India?

The World Bank’s India Club invited IHRB’s Salil Tripathi to the India Club of the World Bank in Washington DC on October 2nd, Gandhi’s 144th birthday. Tripathi spoked about the relevance of India’s founding father, Mohandas Gandhi, in a rapidly-urbanising India. Tripathi drew on the history of Gandhi’s economic thinking and related it with his moral view, suggesting that an economic outlook devoid of ethics was fundamentally flawed.
His talk was accompanied by remarks from Ananya Vajpeyi, distinguished Indian academic and Kluge Fellow at the John F Kluge Center at the Library of Congress.
